Morning peeps…there is a super new embroidery magazine called ‘Hoop-La’ out woo hoo, about time there is a modern take on embroidery to showcase how exciting, innovative and creative it can be and not dull at all! I love embroidery so bring on more issues please!
In the second edition out last month i was asked to create away a special bespoke tutorial. A cute ‘Bessie Bear’ embroidered card…slightly obsessed with bears at the mo. and dedicated most of my last greeting collection to my love for bears! have a peek on nototnthehighstreet.com
Here is my tutorial with a few photos that is in the latest issue of ‘Hoop-La’. I appliqued some ditsy vintage fabric as the main body of Bessie then stitched a scalloped ribbon and a ickle tassel trim on top…always nice to layer up trims!
I used various stitches such as: back, chain, satin, seed and the two ickle buttons were created by using the buttonhole stitch. I always separate out my embroidery thread to have variation in the thickness to make the bear have more relief in certain areas than others. I then placed ‘Bessie Bear’ on a good quality FSC textured greeting card and simply stitched ‘hello’ on to the front of the card. You could always write a loved ones name or an initial to personalise your greeting card. Why not even try stitching on to the envelope too… making your card even more special!

Morning…this week i had a lovely creative time with my super special illustrator friend Sue at her Studio in Hertfordshire. Designing away surrounded by chickens, ducks and Lamas! was definitely a welcomed change of scenery and always nice to pick a friends brain for future projects. I was inspired to create some cute characters and thought it would be a lovely idea to produce a family personalised print which is now selling on notonthehighstreet.com.
There are 12 different fun characters including a raccoon, bear, cat, bunny, a ickle owl…so lots of choice hopefully a cute character to be loved by each family member from Dad to nanny to ickle ones to even adding in auntie and uncle!
Each family member can have their very own accessory to reflect their personality and character, from a trendy ‘Beanie’, ‘Geeky Glasses’ to a ‘Princess Crown’ there is something for everyone in the family! Hope you like my new ickle family animal characters X X
With my ickle nephew Jude’s birthday just around the corner… thought it would be a nice idea to make him something a little bit different for him to wear on his special day! cute pom poms and brightly coloured ribbons and fabric to make him feel very important Xxx so i got carried away creating and tadah here is my collection of rosettes notonthehighstreet.com hope you like them lots…lets hope they sell too xXx
